Empire Kawasaki at the start gate

Kawasaki will be aiming to advance their championship standings in the 450 and 250 class with the Empire Kawasaki team.

The Empire Kawasaki team have done the pre-season work and they are ready to take on the ProMX Motocross Championship. Jayden Rykers has warmed up for the season by winning the WA state Supercross series. Haruki Yokoyama placed his KX250 on the podium in preparation races. Jai Constantinou gained race experience on the KX250.

TYSON CHERRY: EMPIRE KAWASAKI – TEAM OWNER & MANAGER has shared his thoughts on the team preparation for the 2022 ProMX Motocross Championship and his expectations of the riders during the season.

THE TEAM:

“A full year of racing is ahead of the team. I am pleased with the preparation work the team has done in the pre-season. The riders are all fit and have worked on their race skills. The KX250 and KX450 are performing strongly. We have skilled technicians getting the best out of the KX motorcycles. Jesse and Haruka both understand their riders and the performance they require from the bikes in training and on race day.”

THE RIDERS:

“Jayden Rykers (MX1) is based in WA. That presented another bag of problems for the team last year with border closures. It has all opened with perfect timing for ProMX. Rykers has put in so much hard work with racing and training. The WA supercross win at the start of this year has set him up for the perfect assault on the MX1 championship.”

“We had Haruki Yokoyama (MX2) join the team last year, from Japan, and we were unable to get him racing due to the pandemic. In the 2022 pre-season, Haruki has shown solid speed and great line selection. He had notched up couple of podiums already for the year and we are looking forward to more winning celebrations.”

“Jai Constantinou is our new development rider. He has been a great training partner with Haruki and is developing into a fast and smooth MX2 rider. This will be a learning year for Jai. I believe he will be up the front of the pack and in contention for some podium finishes.”

Empire Kawasaki is supported by Kawasaki Motors Australia. The team is entering the third season with Kawasaki support.

GINA COSTELLO: KAWASAKI MOTORS AUSTRALIA – MARKETING ASSISTANT MANAGER

“Through the three seasons Kawasaki have worked with Tyson we have been excited to contribute to the growth of this dynamic team. Tyson brings a fresh perspective to the Australian MX racing paddock. The video and social media content they produce is innovative and engaging. The style this team bring through their uniform and graphic design is next level. Tyson is genuine and authentic in his enthusiasm for adding to the MX racing community in Australia and creating opportunities for team.  Kawasaki are proud to work with Empire Motorsport”.

ROBERT WALKER: KAWASAKI MOTORS AUSTRALIA – NATIONAL SALES AND MARKETING MANAGER
"The start of the season is finally here. It has taken a lot of hard work by Empire Motorsport, the team at Kawasaki and the organisers at ProMX.  The KX250 and KX450 will perform well for the riders. Now, we just need them to stay fit and get Team Green up onto the podium. Our team manager Tyson Cherry has done a great job over the last couple of years and the team expansion this year looks set to bring the results.”
