Mackay, Queensland, is the battleground for round 2 of the ProMX Motocross Championship.
The Empire Kawasaki three-rider team are fired up to build on the solid results they achieved in Wonthaggi.
Team owner, Tyson Cherry, has packed up the truck, riders, and team for the drive to Mackay.
“The riders will be aiming to get good starts at Mackay. We have been working a lot on their starts leading into this weekend,” said Cherry. “The team will be running lean as a few of our staff have come down with covid, but the core group will bring out the best in the riders and the bikes.”
The surprise package for the MX2 field at Wonthaggi was Jai Constantinou (#44) on the KX250.
“It felt good to get the first round completed on the bike,” said Constantinou. “I know I have the speed to push the KX250 to the front.”
Yokoyama is seeking to move his KX250 into the top five finishing positions for round 2. “After the first full round of ProMX in Australia, I am feeling stronger and better prepared for the races.” said Haruki Yokoyama (#386).
MX1 rider, Jayden Rykers (#6), returned to Western Australia after round 1 to continue racing and building his race fitness. “My 2022 campaign has started from a great position. I opened the year with the WA title and a solid finish inside the top ten at Wonthaggi.” Rykers stated. “Round 2 will be a tough one, but the bike is running well, and I am ready to push to the front of the pack.”
Mackay is playing host to the ProMX and AORC rounds across the weekend. The Empire Kawasaki team will not be joined by Empire Motorsport rider, Will Price, at this round due to covid.
