EMPIRE KAWASAKI POWERS THROUGH GILLMAN PROMX WEEKEND

Empire Kawasaki powered through the fourth round of the 2022 Australian ProMX Championship at Gillman, South Australia, on Sunday with potential displayed across MX1 and MX2.

In MX1, Jayden Rykers set the seventh-fastest time in the Top 10 Shootout onboard the KX450 and worked his way through the field from 12th to finish moto one seventh.

A good start in race two saw Rykers inside the top five, gaining valuable insight and confidence from the first laps before finishing P7 in the race and overall.

“The weekend was pretty average, qualifying was a little bit better, my times were closer,” Rykers explained. “First moto was a terrible start, able to get back to seventh. Second moto was better, just tough not having ridden lately to that intensity.”

In the MX2 class, Haruki Yokoyama launched to two impressive holeshots aboard the KX250 and secured a promising sixth for the round with a 6-6 scorecard.

“Both motos went well with the holeshots,” Yokoyama shared. “Riding up front with the guys was cool, my sprint speed was okay but my fitness is what I need to work on.”

Meanwhile, also in MX2, Jai Constantinou experienced a challenging day, unable to finish the first moto after qualifying ninth and later crossing the line 15th in the second race following an early fall.

“Bit of a tough day racing wise, an issue in the first moto, then a first lap crash in the last one,” Constantinou shared. “It’s been a tough start to the season, but we’ve got a month now to put together some good training and turn the season around.”

The fifth round of the Australian ProMX Championship takes place at Maitland, NSW, on 26 June, where Empire Kawasaki will continue to build from the first half of the season.
