Round 5 of the Pro-MX Championship (Maitland, NSW) marks the commencement of the second half of the Australian motocross season. The Empire Kawasaki team had positive outcomes with top 10 speed and holeshots at Round 4 in South Australia. This has created the perfect launch point for the attack on the back-end of the series.
A determined Jayden Rykers (#6 - KX450) stated, “I had the speed at Gillman during the shootout. This round will be the time to bring the intensity to my speed, push the KX450 to the front in the first corner, and keep it in the lead pack.”
Haruki Yokoyama (#386 - KX250) grabbed two holeshots in Gillman and will be seeking to build on this improvement in his starts.
“The break for a few weeks has given me time to work on my fitness”, said Yokoyama. “The end of the season is time to bring it all and show I can be a contender in Australia for motocross and the upcoming supercross season.”
Young gun Jai Constantinou (#44 - KX250) had a disappointing outing at Gillman.
“Round 4 was not good for me”, said Constantinou, “I need to get it all together in Maitland and then grab onto the tail of that lead pack and put myself into a good position to gain some solid Championship points.”
The Team Manager and Owner, Tyson Cherry, is looking forward to the second half of the series and pushing his riders to bring home some vital points.
“The team are still in the hunt for the points”, said a focussed Cherry, “Our riders have the ability and the bikes to get on the podium. We just need to line everything up on race day.”
“The KX450 and KX250 have a lot of power. Jayden, Haruki and Jai all have the ability. If we can bring everything together, the green team will be in a good position to attack the final rounds.”
