Coffs Harbour, NSW, will host round 6 and the official “Retro Round” of the 2022 ProMX Championship. The Retro Round livery on the KX450 and KX250 bikes is a nod to the iconic 1990s of Kawasaki.
“We could not go past the look of this era for the retro round”, said Team Owner and Manager Tyson Cherry. “The late ’90s may not be the first thing to mind for many fans, but I grew up watching Jeff Emig, and the ’90s was the era that drew me into motocross racing and the Kawasaki bikes.”
The Empire Kawasaki team are seeking to move up another step on the podium after the MX2 class success at Maitland for round 5.
KX250 riders Haruki Yokoyama (#386) and Jai Constantinou (#44) landed on the podium during the previous round.
“I am looking forward to taking another podium at Coffs Harbour”, said an enthusiastic Yokoyama. “It was good to get a result, and now I want more.”
For Constantinou, this was the first podium on the ProMX.
“It felt good to finally have all the training come together at the right time. I think I am on the right track to keep delivering results”, stated Constantinou.
MX1 rider Jayden Rykers (#6) has reflected on the Maitland round and is ready to improve his championship standing.
“It will be a tough round, but I am focussing on the full season, and I want to finish in the top end of the points”, said Rykers.
Cherry has spent the past few weeks preparing the team, riders and bikes for the race to the end of the season.
“We are at the serious end of the season, and the speed of the Empire riders is starting to show”, said Cherry. “I am happy with how the team has developed through the season, and we still have a few more rounds to grab some podiums”.
The fun begins on Saturday with an autograph session for the team at Adventure Powersports and Outdoors motorcycle dealership from 10 am – 11 am.
