Empire Kawasaki Experience Challenging Day At Murray Bridge ProMX Round 5

The Empire Kawasaki Team started Round 5 of the ProMX Championship on a high at Murray Bridge, with Reid Taylor setting the 3rd fastest time in the MX2 morning Qualifying session. Luke Clout would further strengthen the morning by placing a season best 3rd in the MX1 SuperPole.

However, upon the gate drop of MX2 Moto 1, the day would take on a different direction. After Reid Taylor initially ran up front with great track position, an unidentified mechanical issue led to Taylor retiring from the early stages of Moto 1.

The Empire Kawasaki Team was then forced to make the decision that it was in the best interests of both Reid and the Team to forgo him starting in MX2 Moto 2.

Empire Kawasaki Team owner Tyson Cherry commented;

“The Team will now go to work identifying any potential issues and rectify them immediately in order to return Reid to the top step of the podium at Toowoomba for Round 6 in the coming weeks”.

In similar fashion to Taylor, Luke Clout started MX1 Moto 1 running in 2nd position and returning to the early season form that saw him almost win the opening Moto at Horsham.

At the end of lap 3, an unexpected square edge bump sent Clout flying off the bike. After remounting and returning to the mechanics area, he would ultimately retire from the Moto.

After consulting with the Team and Racesafe it was determined that it was best for Luke to sit out Moto 2 and regroup physically for the remainder of the Championship.

“Today was disappointing as I finally had that feeling back on the bike that I have been searching for and it was clear to see in Moto 1. The crash was unexpected and I banged myself up a little, but we will regroup and be ready for the final 3 rounds in QLD”, concluded Clout.

The Empire Kawasaki Team will now focus on Round 6 of the ProMX Championship, taking place on 21st July at the Echo Valley circuit, Toowomba QLD.
