Luke Clout and Empire Kawasaki Team are ready for more thrilling SX1 Victories as the Australian Supercross (AUSX) Championship heads to Wollongong, NSW at WIN Stadium for Round 3 on Saturday October 2nd. Alongside Clout, SX2 teammate Reid Taylor also eyes a return to the podium.
The Opening Rounds of AUSX at Redcliffe saw an expanded Kawasaki presence across all the Championship classes along with the event itself, as Kawasaki Pit Party activations, bike displays and trackside signage marked a partnership return with AUSX for Kawasaki and Team Green.
With Empire Kawasaki leading the charge, SX1 rider Luke Clout has added additional stadium racing seat time with his debut in the WSX Championship aboard the Rick Ware Racing KX450 in Canada last weekend, as he looks to bring the international experience back to Wollongong.
Currently sitting in 3rd place in the SX1 Championship, Clout eagerly awaits Round 3 at Wollongong.
“To get a victory in the opening SX1 Final for Round 2 at Redcliffe was incredible and it shows where we are at with the KX450, the team and my own program,” commented Clout.
“Having the opportunity to compete at WSX with the elite level riders has opened my eyes to another level of racing and I’m extremely excited to bring that back to AUSX and to Wollongong this weekend, where more podiums and victories are what I am chasing”, commented Clout.
For Reid Taylor, a mixed bag of results from Redcliffe saw the young rider as a trio of Australian talent to sweep the SX2 Opening Round podium, with Taylor claiming 2nd, locking out the American riders, a first in many of the recent years of AUSX racing.
Poor starts and race incidents meant Taylor struggled to emulate his Round 1 success on Sunday for Round 2, but regardless Taylor eyes more podiums at Wollongong.
“I know exactly what needs to be done to get back on the podium as we executed the game plan at Redcliffe”, commented Taylor.
“I feel great on the bike, the team has everything working well and my program is on point, I know we can get the job done in the triple crown format on Saturday night”, concluded Taylor.
As Mitch Norris in SX2 along with Zhane Mackintosh and additional Team Green support riders also make their presence known at Wollongong, an exciting night of racing awaits Kawasaki Australia.
Round 3 of the 2024 Australian Supercross Championship takes place at WIN Stadium, Wollongong NSW, on Saturday November 2nd. The event will be broadcast across free-to-air coverage on KAYO Streaming in Australia and MAVTV for international audiences.
