Florence Shines at Round 2 of the Tasmanian State MX Championships

Location: Coastal Motocross Club, Penguin, TAS
Date: June 1–2, 2025

Rider: Florence "Floss" Taylor

The second round of the 2025 Tasmanian State Motocross Championships took place over the weekend at the Coastal Motocross Club in Penguin. Nestled on Tasmania’s northwest coast, the venue offered a stunning backdrop for what turned out to be a thrilling and successful event for Team Green.

The Team Green Riders from Bikeworks Motorcycles delivered standout performances across the board.

Adam Levis, Owner of Bikeworks Motorcycles, has been impressed with the team work shown by the riders they have assembled:

"It was a fantastic event for our team, with several of our experienced riders reaching the podium. Even better, our newer members showed significant improvement. The strong camaraderie and coordination of our team have definitely made an impact on the local racing scene. In particular, I wanted to highlight our newest Team Green member, Florence 'Floss' Taylor. I am incredibly impressed and proud to have her on the team."

The camaraderie and team spirit within the Kawasaki camp continues to make a powerful impression on the local racing scene.

A Star in the Making: Florence "Floss" Taylor

One of the weekend’s most inspiring stories came from our newest Team Green recruit, Florence “Floss” Taylor. Competing in her very first motocross event, Florence took on the challenge aboard her KLX140—racing against a field of 85cc bikes. Despite the odds, she showed incredible grit, enthusiasm, and rapid improvement across all three motos.

In her own words, Florence shared:

“I have never even watched a live MX race in my life so I was really nervous to be competing but at the same time, really excited. The qualifying round was the most nerve-wracking and I didn’t go so well on those laps, but after finding the good lines, I was loving it.”

Florence’s confidence grew with each race. She improved her lap times significantly—shaving off around 20 seconds from her qualifying pace—and even attempted the step-up jump in the final moto, a bold move that helped her gain even more speed.

“Jumping was amazing—Dad said he’d never seen me jump so high in my life,” she added.

Beyond her own races, Florence embraced the team spirit, cheering on her fellow Team Green riders and soaking in the atmosphere of her first motocross event. With a KX85 on its way, there’s no doubt that Florence is just getting started.

Looking Ahead

With Round 3 set for St Helens, the team is already gearing up for another strong showing. Florence is focused on improving her jumps and corner speed.

Stay tuned for more updates as the championship continues—and if you ever get the chance, make sure to visit the Coastal Motocross Club. It’s a track as beautiful as it is challenging.
