Race Report – Koby Munro – Victorian Off road Championship

VORC Rounds 9 & 10 – Mirboo North
The Mirboo North rounds of the Victorian Off-Road Championship served up highs, lows, and a true test of determination for Koby Munro in the J1 class aboard his Kawasaki KX85.
Round 9 began on a high with a holeshot and Koby challenging the J2 riders early. Unfortunately, a mechanical failure ended his race prematurely with a DNF — a tough blow after such a strong start. Despite the heartbreak, Koby stayed trackside to support his fellow riders and regroup for Sunday’s racing.
Round 10 featured two 45-minute motos, and Koby came out firing in Race 1, grabbing the holeshot and taking the win. In Race 2, however, a tough start and an early crash left him nearly 1 minute 30 seconds down and at the back of the field. Digging deep, he charged through the pack to salvage a strong 3rd overall for the day.
“It wasn’t my best weekend, but I’m proud of how I fought back and finished strong,” said Koby. “I’ve reset now and I’m ready to focus on the AEC rounds in Kyogle next weekend.”
A highlight of the weekend was seeing more Kawasaki bikes lining up in the junior classes. Since Koby and his older brother Nate first brought the KX into the junior off-road scene, more riders have joined the Team Green family — including two in Koby’s class and two in Nate’s at Mirboo North. Several families shared that they’d chosen Kawasaki after seeing the Munro brothers race them, a clear sign of Kawasaki’s growing presence in junior enduro.
Through the highs and lows of the weekend, Koby’s Leatt gear held up strong — as always, standing out from the rest and giving him the confidence to push hard.
What’s Next: Koby now looks ahead to the Australian Enduro Championship (AEC) rounds in Kyogle, NSW, kicking off this weekend. These events mark an important step in what promises to be a big 2025 season.
