Tab Newcomb - MX & Cross Country Racing across the winter

Team Green rider for Lithgow Bike Stop has been racing on her Kawasaki through the winter in motocross and cross country around Australia, read on to find out what Tab has been achieving.

Toowoomba – ProMX Round 3 (WMX Nationals) – July 27, 2025

Heavy rain the day/night before made Toowoomba an extremely deep, muddy, and technical track once the lines formed up. It was a real challenge but it was nothing short of an opportunity to learn and push myself in tough conditions.

Qualifying went well — I felt strong and finished P13, even though I had a couple of tip overs, I was still happy with the execution early in the day, getting a bit of a better grip with playing the practise/qualifying game. Moto 1 started with a solid top-half jump and I managed to avoid a few early pile-ups, running as high as 9th before a couple of errors dropped me back to P12 at the finish.

Moto 2 didn’t go my way. A poor start left me buried, and after getting stuck in the mud on top of the Matterhorn for too long, I couldn’t find any flow or aggression. I struggled to feel comfortable on the bike, which made it tough to ride the way I know I can but that’s part of racing.

Overall, it was well worth being back up in QLD around the action of the Pro Nationals. Every race is experience gained, and I’ll keep working to build more speed and consistency for 2026.

Yellow Mountain Cross Country – August 2–3, 2025

My second time taking on the 480km bush race between Condobolin, NSW and Tottenham, NSW, in a “there and back” format with 240km each day. It’s such a unique event and a highlight on the calendar.

I prologued 89th overall and went on to finish 99th outright, taking P2 in the Women’s class. The KX250 felt unreal all weekend and handled the long distances really well, I was able to stay upright the majority of the time and had a smooth run. The best part is being able to hold it wide along the crops.

I really enjoy mixing in a few off-road races alongside motocross. We really value what it can teach you on the bike and it’s always fun sharing the experience with mates while doing something different.

Dubbo Dirtbike Club – Mac Daddy Cup – August 24th, 2025

The annual Mac Daddy Cup is a special charity fundraiser held in memory of Mitch. I really enjoy being at the local tracks, and with plenty of laps around Dubbo over the years, it's always a good time.

In the Women’s final, it came down to a combined shootout with the boys. Jade Chellas and I had a great cat-and-mouse battle until I was able to make a clean pass in one of the final corners. Jade stayed right on me, but I managed to hold on and cross the line in front to take 1st in Women’s. I love a good friendly battle like that, especially with mates.

The KX 250 felt great all day, although my starts on the concrete need some work. Huge thanks to all the volunteers and the Dubbo committee for putting on another successful round.

A massive thank you to those who make it happen: Kawasaki Australia, Team Green, Leatt Moto Australia, Whites Powersports Australia, Lithgow Bike Stop, and Resurrection Machine.
