Peter Bedford: Ouyen Mallee Motorcycle Club – Gordon Trigg Memorial Desert MX

I competed in the Ouyen Mallee Motorcycle Club – Gordon Trigg Memorial Desert MX.

This was the first desert race of the season and my first outing on the new KX450. To say I was impressed with the new bike would be a huge understatement.

The power and handling were spot on through the thick sand and the extremely rough sections, and it was genuinely a lot of fun to ride.

I’m now really looking forward to getting the bike out on the Finke track in June.

I entered the 35+ age class, which had 28 competitors—many of them ex‑A‑grade or very experienced racers. I finished in equal 10th overall in the class.

Given the depth of experience in the field, I was hoping for a top‑10 result, so I’m very satisfied with how it went.

The last time I raced this event, I finished near the end of the field, so it was great to see the improvement.

My next planned event is Round 1 of the North West VIC Desert Enduro Series in 4 weeks.
