Two Podium Finishes at ProMX Rd1

In his debut with Penrite Racing Empire KawasakiDean Ferris claimed two MX1 moto podiums with consistent 2-3 finishes to secure P3 overall upon return to the Penrite ProMX Championship at Wonthaggi.

After winning his most recent title in 2023 and then sitting out much of the past two years, four-time national champion Ferris’ front-running comeback onboard the KX450 has already marked him as a rider to watch as the season continues.

For youthful teammate Brad West, Wonthaggi proved a more challenging outing, with the 19-year-old from Dingo, Queensland, finishing 19th overall, fuelling the fire heading into the next round at Canberra in April.

Team owner Tyson Cherry shared his thoughts on the opening round. "Was great to be back at the races for round 1, the whole weekend had a really good vibe. Unreal to have it as a home race as well.

Dean Ferris was unreal, did exactly what we spoke about and got through round one on the podium. That puts us in an awesome position heading into Canberra in a couple of weeks.

Brad West showed some great speed, just couldn’t quite put it all together this time. We’ll go back to the drawing board with him and get him back to where he belongs.

The whole team did an amazing job, from our sponsors through to the crew. Couldn’t do it without everyone behind us."
