Matt Jones Motorcycles Team Green rider, Max Closter, delivered a weekend of determination, resilience, and breakthrough performances across recent Victorian events.
Victoria State Titles Rd 1 – Ballarat
Closter faced a challenging start to the State Titles campaign, finishing 8th, 7th, and 16th across the three motos to secure 10th overall. While the results didn’t reflect his full potential, his performance told a deeper story of persistence and progress.
Struggling with starts on a technical Ballarat circuit, Closter consistently pushed forward through the field. His strongest showing came in the final race, where he found his rhythm and moved into 6th place before a sudden rear-end slide resulted in a heavy crash.
Despite the impact, Closter remarkably walked away uninjured and remounted to finish the race, avoiding a DNF and salvaging valuable points. The round may not have delivered podium results, but it ignited a renewed determination within the young rider.
“Not the round I came for — but definitely one that’s lit a fire in me. I know I’ve got more, and I’m coming back better,” Closter reflected.
Western Regions Rd 2 – Horsham
Bouncing back in style, Closter returned at Horsham with a commanding performance that showcased both maturity and speed. Posting consistent results of 2nd, 2nd, and 1st across the motos, he secured the overall win for the round, his first of the season.
Demonstrating improved starts and race craft, Closter rode with confidence on a tough, low-grip track. His ability to stay smooth and composed under challenging conditions proved decisive, allowing him to control races and capitalize when it mattered most.
“It was an awesome day… very happy to get my first win and overall for the year. I rode smart and smooth, had good starts, and put myself in a good position,” he said.
