Kawasaki Australia received a great story from Kawasaki enthusiast Howie Powers. KMA caught up with Howie to discover more about Howie and his Kawasaki journey so far.
"It was Christmas 2020 that I decided to buy a bike and fulfill my dream that I had held onto for 50 years. Buying a Ninja was an easy choice, I love Kawasaki.
(I owned a Z750 in 1978)."
"Once I had my bike, I started the process of finding out where I could join a club and do racing. With not too much luck in joining groups in March I decided to form my own club and after a lengthy process I finally became the owner of the "Ninja 650 Masters Club Inc". I then found "Racers" who hold track days at Queensland Raceway, Lakeside International Raceway and I acquired a clubman licence to race on these tracks."
"After buying my own-coloured fluoro stickers, I cut the shapes out and stuck them on my bike, and arrived at the nicknamed for the Ninja, the "Fluoro Flash". I was going to have my first race on the 29th of May, but I was hit by a car at work and received serious leg injuries. Fortunately, I healed enough to make my first race on the 4th of July and I've raced every month since."
"Everyone that sees this Kawasaki Ninja 650 loves it. In the pits at the track, people ask me if they can take photos. I also have photos that I print out and Autograph for the kids. The Ninja 650 is such a beautiful bike to race, it handles great, plenty of power, reliable and the thumping sound of the twin is awesome, I love it."
"This is only the beginning. My Dream now is to make the Kawasaki "Fluoro Flash" Ninja 650 Super Stock, the most notable bike in Australia. It is my dream to make this bike famous. I already have a magazine interested in doing a story on my Kawasaki! Also, I would like to make a safety video presentation and visit schools with my bike to educate children, that one day might buy a (Kawasaki) bike, to become safe riders and wear the right gear when they are riding on the road. I would also love to visit children's hospitals with my bike and give out Autographed photo's."
Kawasaki Australia are proud to have enthusiasts like Howie representing the Kawasaki brand both on the race track and the road. We wish Howie all the best of luck pursuing his dreams and living the Kawasaki experience.
